The County Recorder’s Office is responsible for the recording of real property records, voter registration, early balloting, and various other tasks.

REAL PROPERTY RECORDS:

The Real Property Records include transfers of ownership, liens, leases, assignments, judgments, and any other type of document having to do with real property. Also recorded are UCC Financing Statements on certain types of personal property loans, mining records, powers of attorney, agreements, and numerous other documents. Upon acceptance of the documents and the proper recording fee (see fee schedule), the documents are key entered into a multi-reference index system. The documents are then optically scanned, and an archival silver film is created for archive storage. The index and the images of the documents are available to the public during business hours.

You may search the Recorder’s data base from 1986 through the present by clicking < here > or on the search link at the bottom of this page.

The Recorder also files subdivision maps and record of survey maps.

Fee Schedule:

Base fee is $14.00 for one through five pages. Add $1.00 for each page after the fifth page

An Arizona Affidavit of Property Value is required for any transfer, unless it falls under one of the exemptions allowed by law. The fee for filing the Affidavit is $2.00. The Affidavit must accompany the Deed to be recorded. (click here for online form)

Map filing is $28.00 for the first page of the map, and $20.00 thereafter.

Copy Fees:

The fee for a copy of a recorded document is $1.00 per page.  The fee for a map is $3.00 per page.  Include an additional $3.00 if you wish the copy certified.  Also include $1.00 for mailing, or a self-addressed stamped envelope.  Copy fees must be paid in advance.

You may search the Recorder’s data base by clicking on the “La Paz County Recorder’s Document Index Search Center” icon. The more recent years will indicate the number of pages included within a document. If the search results do not indicate the number of pages, you may telephone or E-mail us for that information prior to sending your copy request and fees.

VOTER REGISTRATION:

The Recorder maintains the official Voter Registration Roll. The registration forms are accepted and processed according to Arizona statutes. During elections, the Recorder creates the signature rosters and precinct registers used at the polling places.

Registration closes 29 days prior to any election. Once you are registered, you do not have to re-register unless you move, change your mailing address, change your name, or wish to change your party affiliation.

Voter Registration forms are available at all post offices, APS office, Board of Supervisor's Office, Recorder's Office, and various other locations.  We are happy to mail a registration form to you. Just contact us by phone or mail.

EARLY BALLOTING:

The Recorder issues Early Ballots prior to all elections upon the request of the voter. No reason is necessary. Any registered voter may vote early. Early balloting begins 33 days prior to the election. You may request a ballot by mail or telephone. Contact the Recorder at the address or phone number given above.

Also, a Special Board is available to deliver a ballot to any voter that cannot come to the polls.  Contact the Recorder's Office at 669-6136 or 1-888-526-8685 to make arrangements.
